Re-energizing and focusing the top team
in preparation for a major push
Challenge:
The client had recently completed a difficult and successful
effort to improve its operational infrastructure to meet customer
requirements. Now, the CEO wanted to galvanize his top management
team to deliver dramatically improved results in the next six
months in order to be in position for an acquisition. The team
was feeling drained, but all knew they could achieve success
only by every member performing at peak, with superior teamwork
across their different geographic locations
What we did:
- Interviewed all team members to gain their perspectives
on strengths and suggestions for improved teamwork for each
individual and for the team as a whole.
- In addition, implemented a customized upward feedback
survey to provide feedback to the leaders and leadership
team from middle management ranks
- At a team offsite, provided structure and process for
personal, comprehensive, and safe sharing of feedback among
all team members, including CEO. Included requests and personal
commitments to support individual action plans.
- Provided creative processes for team members to reveal
their view of the team's function and their role in it,
and their own vision for the team's performance.
- Team agreed and recommitted to guidelines to guide their
interactions over the crunch-time, and practiced those guidelines
with our expert facilitation while planning actions for
the company's top strategic priorities over the next six
months
Results:
- Increased energy and excitement to tackle clear six-month
priorities
- Enhanced honesty in team communications
- Increased commitment to each other for achieving results
- Achieved required improved results, resulting in successful
acquisition
